Q: Do you cut logs
to different lengths?
A:
Yes, we can supply all sorts of different lengths. But only
the small 9" logs fit will fit in our bags! Please contact
us for more details.
Q: Do you
use softwoods?
A:
No we don't. They are less dense, therefore giving the customer
less value for money.
Q: If your
logs are too dry won't they burn faster?
A: No,
not at all. If the log is wet, the logs energy is wasted
evaporating the water off. This also sends nasty things
up the chimney!
Q: Why is
dry wood so important?
A: Burning
wet logs wastes the logs energy as the water has to be evaporated
off the log. Also, the steam and tars put up the chimney can
cause serious damage.
Q: Do you
use sustainable wood?
A: Yes,
we get our wood from thinning projects where a selection
of the trees are cut down to make room, and light for
the others, so they can grow big and strong.
Q: Do you
stack logs?
A: Yes,
we do. Obviously only on local deliveries. It is a great way
to make your logs space efficient and also look great. Please
contact for details, prior to delivery.
Q: Do you
sell 'green' (non kiln dried) logs?
A: Yes
we do. These are for the customer to season over a period of
two years or so. Please contact us
for details.
Q: What species
of tree do you use for logs?
A: All
hardwoods, mainly Ash, and Beech. However we do use
a variety of other hardwoods, such as Sycamore and Oak.
Q: What is
so good about your kindling?
A: All
kindling is kiln dried, and packaged in a similar way to our
logs. We find that they make starting a fire hassle free!
